INVISALIGN & ORTHODONTIC

INVISALIGN & ORTHODONTIC

Orthodontic treatment is the name given to all treatment methods that correct the alignment of the teeth for functional and aesthetic purposes.

Orthodontic treatment aims to reposition one or more teeth by applying force and moving them to achieve alignment and harmonious tooth balance. Thanks to the activity of bone cells, which allow the bone to regenerate and dissolve in a controlled manner, the teeth will move in your jawbone.

Who Can Get Orthodontic Treatment?

The position of your teeth and jaw affect occlusion. Occlusion refers to the relationship of your upper teeth to your lower teeth. If your upper teeth aren’t in good harmony with your lower teeth, we speak of tooth malocclusion. Missing, misaligned, overlapping, or protruding teeth cause this condition. This also makes it very difficult for you to chew certain foods. It can also cause muscle tension and pain. Your protruding, unsymmetrical teeth can also be damaged or broken much more quickly.

Similarly, brushing crooked or overlapping teeth is more difficult. This increases your chances of gum disease and caries. You can change the position of your teeth at any age, thanks to orthodontic treatment. When you come to our clinic for a check-up, we can evaluate whether orthodontic treatment is suitable for you.

What does Orthodontic Treatment Provide?

Orthodontic treatment not only straightens your teeth but also provides a lifetime of functional and aesthetic teeth. If you have orthodontic treatment, your oral and dental health will change as follows;

●      You can maintain gum health by brushing your teeth more easily. With healthy gums, you will be protected from the risk of periodontal disease in the future.

●      Your poorly positioned teeth can create abnormal physiological stress. This problem can manifest itself with abnormal tooth wear, gingival swelling, bleeding, redness, and pain in the temporomandibular joint. However, you can prevent such ailments and improve your life comfort thanks to this treatment.

●      It allows you to speak fluently. Your untreated teeth can even cause speech difficulties. Orthodontic treatment will improve your diction since it will put your jaw and teeth in order.

Orthodontic Treatment Types

Braces Treatment

You’ve probably heard of braces before. These are the most common fixed orthodontic appliances.

They consist of braces, bands, and brackets. Bands are anchors held in place around your teeth. Brackets are attached to the front of your teeth. Arch braces attach the brackets to the bands. Squeezing the arch braces puts pressure on your teeth, slowly moving them towards their target position. Depending on the degree of disorder of the tooth alignment, braces can stay in your mouth between 6 months and 18 months.

Although there is no difference between each other in terms of treatment duration, braces are divided into 3 options in line with aesthetic options. Which option to start the treatment with is determined after the result of the exchange of ideas between the orthodontist and the patient.

●      Metal Braces: Although it is observable from the outside, it is the most affordable treatment option compared to other options.

●      Transparent Braces (Porcelain): They are the porcelain transparent ones of the brackets in the front.

●      Invisible Braces (Lingual): In this type of treatment, braces, and brackets are placed on the invisible back of the teeth. This treatment, which will not be visible from the outside, is more expensive than metal and transparent braces.

Transparent Plaque Appliances (Invisalign)

Transparent plaque (Invisalign) is an orthodontic treatment that can straighten your teeth without using metal braces. Transparent plaques are custom-made plaques that cover your teeth and gently pull them into the correct position over time.

Transparent plaque offers you a comfortable treatment option compared to regular braces. Plaques move teeth in the similar way braces do. Transparent plates are almost invisible; they don’t contain metal braces and brackets. They can be easily removed and put on while eating, brushing teeth, and flossing if you use them. Although it’s easier to maintain than braces, it’s a more expensive option in terms of cost.

Additional Treatment Methods

For fixed orthodontic appliances, the following may be recommended:

●      Special fixed devices: These can only be used to control your habits such as thumb sucking or tongue pushing.

Fixed placeholders: Sometimes, young children can lose their teeth early. In such cases, we may place a placeholder in your child’s mouth to keep the space open until the permanent tooth appears
